Abstract:
This article provides the importance of family traditions in the life of the Japanese. It includes an analysis of
the historical foundations and particularities of family traditions. It is revealed and explained the importance
of the concept of «family»on the basis of the Japanese proverbs. Much attention is given to the role of the father
and mother in the upbringing of the child, and to the importance of worship of the spirits of ancestors.
The author draws reader’s attention to the role of the traditions and rituals, also holidays in the upbringing of
children. The article gives examples of traditions related to the birth of a child and the Japanese model of upbringing.
It is spoken about characteristics of the Japanese as a member of community and the basic principles
of child education.
