Abstract:
The article examines the nature of the linguistic identity of the Kazakh and Indian youth. The survey of respondents
aged 18-21 shows the features of the linguistic self-determination of an individual. Nevertheless, a
significant part of respondents identify themselves with their father's linguistic correlation due to the traditional
dominant role of the father in the Kazakh family, a slightly smaller number of respondents choose the
mother's nationality. A significant sociolinguistic characteristic of young people is the availability of
ethnolinguistic resources for the reproduction of their native language. In this article, our goal is to discuss the
extent to which the choice of the native language, knowledge of Russian or a foreign language, language attitudes
and external social factors determine the nature of the student's linguistic identity. Anthropological
characteristics and language are important factors in the choice of ethnic identity. In the course of the research,
the characteristic features of the linguistic identity of a bilingual personality of a student are distinguished.
